The ROMC clinic is now seeing between 20-30 patients each day it is open, which is 6 days per week. We are very excited about this growth. The clinic now charges a sliding scale fee for cost recovery, as part of our updated operating agreement with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health.
Sisay’s big news is that we recently used these funds to purchase a new blood chemistry machine, which will complement our existing CBC Hematology machine. The blood chemistry machine is not yet operational, as it is currently being installed. With these two machines, BNCO’s clinic is becoming a cornerstone of health care in the Kolfe Keranio community. Other medical clinics are referring patients to us because of the advanced diagnostic equipment that we have.
While we still have a long way to go before this is possible, we look forward to a day when our ROMC clinic is financially self-sustaining. We are thrilled to hear that the cost-recovery program is allowing our staff in Ethiopia to make smart investments towards that end.
As always, thank you for your support.
