Sponsorship Program

BNCO's first project is their Sponsorship Program, which now has 58 kids! The kids have been abandoned or orphaned by infectious diseases, especially HIV/AIDS. Many have been ostracized from the community because of the AIDS stigma. Therefore the community will not support an orphanage in the area until AIDS education can become readily available to fight this stigma.

The children live with supportive foster families within the community, or relatives. Their school, living, medical and general expenses are taken care of by sponsors in the United States. Sponsors pay $30.00 a month or $360.00 a year, and can send small gifts or letters to their sponsored child. Children are visited bi-annually where they are given check ups and update the organization on their lives and interests. This information is then passed onto the sponsor along with any letters the children write for their sponsor.
